A Little Win for Pen Written Post at the Web Excellence Awards 2025

So, something rather lovely happened this year: Pen Written Post picked up a Web Excellence Award in 2025 for our Green & Eco-friendly website.

We are not about to start strutting around like we invented the internet, but we are quietly chuffed. It’s nice to have outside confirmation that what we’re trying to build – warm, sustainable, human-first marketing – is landing in the way we hoped.

If you want the official news, it’s here:
https://we-awards.com/winner/pen-written-post/

Why This Matters

Pen Written Post is all about handwritten notes and handwritten letters that help businesses reconnect with people in a way email just… doesn’t.

We send handwritten note campaigns, thank you business letters, customer follow-ups, and the kind of direct mail examples that don’t feel like “a marketing department did this,” but more like “a human remembered me.”

So yes, we’re a very analogue-heart business. But the website is still the front door.

Before anyone sees a customized letter or a thank you letter to company, they usually find us online first. The site needs to feel like us – calm, personal, not shouty, not cardboard-corporate. This award is basically a nod to that: the digital side matches the handwritten one.

Credit Where It’s Due: Website Doctors

This win is as much about the people who built the site as the site itself.
Website Doctors took our slightly messy, ink-stained, very human approach and turned it into something clear and easy to navigate – without sanding off the personality.

They understood that a good handwritten website shouldn’t look like a template trying to cosplay as thoughtful. It needs to feel like a real extension of the brand, the same way good written notes do.

The Bigger Picture: Why Handwritten Still Works

We’re seeing more businesses revisiting direct mail in 2025, and honestly it makes sense. People are tired. Inboxes are chaos.

A well-timed handwritten letter layout, or a short thank you for business letter, still cuts through because it feels deliberate. it’s physical. it slows people down in a good way.

Some of the most effective uses we see:

  • thank you letters customer campaigns after a first purchase
  • customer follow up notes to bring people back
  • direct mail for b2b outreach that doesn’t sound like a LinkedIn script
  • simple direct mailing ideas for re-engagement
  • letters of thank you business sends for referrals or renewals

These aren’t gimmicks. They’re just sensible ways to stay human at scale.
And yes, you can run this through an automated letter sending service without losing the warmth – as long as the message is still personal.

If You’re Looking for Inspiration

If you’re hunting for direct mailer ideas, direct mail campaign samples, or even just letter examples business teams can use without cringing, here’s the simple rule:

Write like a person, not a process.

A good thank you letter in business doesn’t need to be long.
A strong business letter formal format still benefits from a human voice.
And a real written note beats a perfect typewritten letter every time, because the effort is visible.

A Proper Thank You

So yes – a little win, but a meaningful one. Thanks to the awards team for noticing. Thanks to Website Doctors for building something that feels like Pen Written Post. And thanks to everyone who trusts us with their handwritten pages, business thank you letters, and their “please help us sound like humans again” moments.

We’ll keep doing what we do: writing letters business people actually want to read.

Quietly proud.
